I believe Anshin went out of the uniform business last year. They did have great designs, but they had trouble getting the quality material necessary to provide consistant quality with predictable shrinkage.

Thank you, Alan, very nice gis. I believe this is the brand Bill told me about.

I checked into the website. I may go with this. I like the fact that they can also give you a combination black pants/white top or vice-versa.

What is nice about them is that the fabric they use is pre-shrunk. They also advise you to wash in hot water, dry, and iron before having anything put on them. Very good point since, if the sizing is not washed out, the fabric make slighty pucker around the patch afterward.

Good site, Alan.

Best regards,
Vicki :P

George,
The site is up and they have order information on it.
I just sent them an email and will let you know what their response is. I did ask them if they are still in business and taking orders. I also asked them if they still use the same heavy fabric they have used in the past.

I hope they are still up and running.

George,
I finally got a response from Anshin. They will be back up and running in the future having had some problems. The following is the letter they sent to me.

Thank you for your inquiry of Anshin.

We have been going through a transitional period to over come a total loss fire coupled with a closing of domestic mills that provided Anshin with its fabric.

As a result we have had to go off shore to have our garments produced.

We should be receiving our first delivery of our new production karate gi in three weeks. Many of these Items are being reserved for customers even before this first delivery of inventory comes in.

We expect that these garments to be of at least the same to even superior quality to any that we have ever been proud to offer.

Though we are still learning about international customs, brokerage, import duties and shipping costs, we expect to be able to offer these new Anshin gi at a little less cost to our customers than we have in the past.

If a sensei can demonstrate to us that they own and operate their own dojo we would be able to offer them wholesale status.

Our website as a result is obsolete but we will not be able to update it until we have completed our present process.

Our patterns remain exclusively and uniquely our own. We have taken this opportunity to tweak some of our patterns a bit but then that is something Anshin has been doing on ever since Anshin offered it's first gi to market.

We haven't any literature to offer at this time but if you have been pleased with our products in the past, please know that you should have at least as satisfied into the future.

Please feel encouraged to inquire further if you are so inclined.

Respectfully,

Mark Mirski

Anshin custom-sewed a gi for me once. Best gi I've ever owned. Glad they're coming back.

Viki,

I've had 3 gi's for Mark. They are great!

FYI - Mark was a student of mine back in the early 80's. Tell him I sad Hi if you order from him.

Small world, isn't it? I will pass that on, Alan, when I order a gi. I hope to order the shorter black pants with the traditional white top. Very dramatic, love it.

Alan M. did you just send in your measurements for the customized gi or did you have to be there for the them to measure you?

I hope they are able to get the company going. I will let you all know when I get any kind of confirmation.

"Allen M." is a handle I haven't seen in a while...

I was measured right at summer camp. I asked for heavyweight, and I got the best heavyweight gi fabric I've ever seen.

Deep Sea, actually, I addressed it to Allen M. so because there are two Allen, yourself and Allen L.. I like to address people by their first name. It helps me remember them so if I see them at camp, I can connect them to the name rather than the moniker.

Sorry for the confusion.

Hopefully, they will be set up at camp again soon.

Respectfully yours,
Vicki

Now I'm really confused in a contorted way. Maybe it's just because it's past my bedtime.

I am Allen M., and that was my handle on these forums for awhile, hence my response.

There are other's of similar sounding first names, but their spelling's is not the same.

Help me out here.

There is a similar dysfunction at work where three of us Allens are in close proximity. When this fine outstanding name is called, three heads sometimes pop up.

Two guys named Allen here. You, Allen Moulten a.k.a. Deep Sea and Allen L. a.k.a. known as simply AlanL with the Japanese writing for avatar. I was responding to something each of you said within the same post.

Sorry for the confusion, Deep Sea (Allen Moulton).

Hope that made sense.
