Crazy reaction that worked

Interesting stories involving the martial arts. First hand experiences are best, but we welcome events you heard about. No news clippings please.

Crazy reaction that worked

Post by Raffi Derderian »

I was watching the Learning Channel last week and they were doing one of those hidden camera shows. I can't remember what it was called but it was sort of like Cops but it was from the victims perspective.
The one segment I found interesting was of a clerk in a 7-11 (or something like that) who was robbed at knifepoint. The two robbers came in and one stood on the other side of the counter from the clerk while the other went behind the counter. He pulled a knife on the clerk who immediately raised his hands and began bouncing up and down reacting to the stress of this. The knife attacker lunged forward at him and the clerk just kicked the knife! Boy, that is something we don't teach or recommend for sure. The clerk didn't have any maritial arts training, this was obvious. The knife flew out of the attackers hand! Pretty good at this point, eh? The attacker then moves forward and the clerk ducks his head down and tries to tackle the attacker. He then got the s**t kicked out of him and the robbers fled.
I see other styles teach kicking the knife. Never liked it. Still really don't. But apparently it CAN work.

sounds like the guy got lucky with that kick... good that he got out of there with only a beating and not a stabbing,...
