Hey V- I have an awesome book on Chinese herbal medicine- I'll look to see what it says about migraines etc. I used to get them- the kind where you see the "visions" Mr. Darrow spoke of- (I thought they were blood vessels popping behind my eyes- causing the effect of blind spots that look ...

The book I was referring to is "Fit for Life" and mostly talks about what to eat, and when to eat it to get the best use out of it. Like The author- says that eating fruit - as much as you want, until noon, only fruit, just until noon, will best bennefit your body because of what it's doin...

I bruise easy too- do check into that- get blood tested just in case something else is happening- re: the bruising- a really good way I've found to work through the bruise once it's there- grab some tiger balm- put a bit on the bruise (if it's not cut open too) and rub as hard as you can- then a lit...

Hi chef/Vicki- Awesome book re all this is called "Fit for Life" old- but I can find the author for you if you'd like. Also- as people get older your metabolism completely changes and half the time you don't even realize it- Uechi training has helped me take off 30 pounds- reletively quick...

"What the Black Belt means to me"

These people are ones to admire and learn from absolutely. They express what is also in my own heart as well, for I too am preparing. Makes me think that maybe this question should be posed durring training well. (or one like it) Like at green-belt. (sorry I can't remember the name of this kyu rank)...

Wow- Sat here reading the responses nodding my head- "yeah I can see that!" reading each one. And, Susan and I have something in common! I told Steve not to expect me to "bow" to him at home either! LOL. For us- I stepped in long after he'd been established as a Sensei. We were a...

Hi Gene! To address your question, "how"? How did they torture people? Although I'm surprised by the question- I figure that shooting at anyone any time including children- is in itself torturing people. They were not quick and painless deaths either. For the person shot or their families....

I absolutely agree, not just on a physical level, but within the mind and spiritual level as well. As your physical body learns the katas etc. the inner healing that comes along with the re-newed confidense levels, etc. are just as important if not more so- since very few of us will actually ever be...

Oh yes! Mr. Durkin! My husband worked with him for quite a while. http://xpres.net/~gmattson/ubbs/frown.gif He was also too busy to read my book. http://xpres.net/~gmattson/ubbs/frown.gif But I recognize his name that's for sure! I've seen tapes of demonstrations from some years ago with he and he w...

Ahh yes; that excess: I've been able to work off 30 of that excess, and have found that it has lessoned some of the back pain, though I also experienced it at 108 lbs. Which is why I thought "over tucking" possibly to contribute. Is that possible, I wonder... I will check out the name glad...

Hi-

Question: how many of the Sensei's out there have spouses training in their dojo? It seems like there aren't too many "teams" like that.

Well, I thought that maybe I had/have been tucking my hips to far forward. When I took singing lessons a wicked long time ago- I was "taught" how to stand for proper breathing- right- one of the things my teacher mentioned was that women tend to stick their butt out when they stand- most u...
