I've had my fair share of "did I really just post/send that?!?! craaaaaap!"... however...these moments have their lessons as well..some quite humbling...but stiil good.
As to Vann's thoughts. I agree to a point. I was just reading a quote on a pretty good martial blog called "the things worth believing in". It noted that the small daily acts of courage show the true depth of courage in a man (or woman, I would add)...so braving the wired web arrows and paper daggers could be one of those small daily acts that builds and measures the person.
One aside for some...spoken words can be shaken off and altered in one's recollection, written criticsm can be pulled up and sting as freshly each time...until one either takes it & acts or puts it aside.

Good post Shana and very true.
The problem that will never go away is the 'human factor' the infectious virus that will destroy mankind down the road.
And the 'emotional high-jacking' is an immediate imperative 'force within'...
And absent that _ would life really be as 'exciting' in the good and the badness of us...as it usually is?

Take your pick...
The Time Machine. The book tells of an enterprising inventor who crafts a device that can carry a human passenger forward or backward through time.
The hero travels 800,000 years into the future and finds a world in which humans had evolved into two species: an illiterate and child-like race called the Eloi, devoid of technology but similar in appearance to modern humans who inhabited the surface of the planet; and the more repugnant Morlocks, technologically sophisticated and living in perpetual darkness in underground caverns.
